Cedar Creek to Rivervale
Our second most popular trip: The perfect trip for those that want a shorter trip. As well as the serious fishermen\fisherwomen who like to fully fish every rapid and eddie.
About a 5 mile float, it is the last half of the
Alpine trip. This stretch of river contains several class I and II rapids made up of natural ledges and rocks.
The put-in is at Gilmores Mill where corn and wheat were ground in the 1800's. The creek is the same creek that flows under the
Natural Bridge.
Once down the hill at the old stone mill, the boats are launched, one at a time, do to limited space at the launch spot. Then out the mouth of Cedar Creek and into the mighty
James River.

Along the way: There are plentiful opportunities to fish, picnic, swim or relax. Nature will be abundant in all types of life forms.
Float Back To the Wilderness: After 4 miles of seemingly undisturbed Wilderness, you will paddle under the Black Railroad Bridge, through the long slow water between "the bridges", by Yogi Bear Campground, navigate the rapid at the James and Kanawha River Canal, and dock at the pebble beach of Wilderness Canoe Co.
This trip can be paddled in 2 hrs., or fished all day.
